Helmholtz Institute of Diabetes and Obesity
The lab has numerous collaborative projects underway with the Institute of Diabetes and Obesity (IDO) at the Helmholtz Institute in Munich, Germany. The IDO is led by Dr. Matthias Tschöp and has vast expertise in the mechanisms of metabolic pathologies. This interdisciplinary research group is well recognized as leaders in the field of diabetes and obesity.
Madesh Muniswamy's Lab has made numerous contributions to our current understanding of the molecular regulation of mitochondrial calcium exchange including the discovery of MCUR1 and the molecular function of MICU1. They are our neighbors in the CTM and we have numerous ongoing collaborations examining the molecular regulation of mitochondrial calcium signaling.
